DanceLab’s Artistic Residency program offers artists time, space and support to develop new ideas, research and creative processes in an Arctic environment. Based in Tromsø, the residency welcomes artists working across dance, performance, music, theatre and interdisciplinary practices.
The residency focuses on artistic exploration rather than production pressure, creating opportunities for reflection, experimentation and collaboration. Artists are invited to engage with the local environment, the Arctic landscape and the cultural context of Northern Norway while developing their own work.
Since 2018, DanceLab has hosted artists from different countries and artistic backgrounds, supporting both emerging and established practitioners through studio access, artistic exchange and networking opportunities. The residency also creates connections between visiting artists, local communities and DanceLab’s broader artistic activities, including performances, workshops and festival collaborations.
DanceLab believes that residencies are not only about producing finished results, but about creating conditions for meaningful artistic development, dialogue and long-term international collaboration.
The residency program continues to expand as part of DanceLab’s vision to strengthen artistic exchange and cultural infrastructure in the Arctic region.
